1958

Pure Foods to Trufoods under the leadership of Dr. Jayantilial Nemchand Shah (Phd in Food Science and Technology). Manufacturing of Zesta Jams & Sauces commenced.

1964

Expansion through the acquisition of Kabazi canners in Nakuru, Manufactures of Kenylon – Tomato Paste, Baked beans, and Soups.

1970

More value addition to local fruits and vegetables by introducing Fruit juices and Cordials under brands “TRUFRU”, “HEY-HO” & “KENYLON” under the slogan ‘The Friendly Food People’.

2006

After demise of Dr. Jayantilal Nemchad Shah, Trufoods taken over by current owners.

2007

Acquisition of Carlton Products, manufacturer of the ever-popular Choco Primo Drinking Chocolate, Cocoa Powder and Energade Glucose. Other brands from Carlton products were Mamandazi and Golden brew.

2009

Factory expansion, Kabazi Canners closed and all operations relocated to Jogoo Road. This brought improved efficiencies by “being under one roof”.

2011

In line with the growing demand for Trufoods products, we invested in two state-of-the-art jam production lines and one for tomato paste production right from blending to packing.

Due to the diversity of Trufoods products, the slogan changed to “Life’s Variety.”

2017

Awarded the prestigious ISO 22000:2005 Food Safety Management Systems.

Acquisition of Golden Biscuits.

2022

Factory expansion to accommodate the Biscuit plant.

Awarded Best Overall Brand “ZESTA” by Top Star Brands Awards.

2023
